Description

Description

"The proposed “Jean Monnet Chair at the National University of Rosario” (Cátedra Jean Monnet en la Universidad de Rosario in Spanish, CJMUNR) involves teaching actions to enhance awareness of the EU and facilitate future engagement as well as people-to-people dialogue. The proposed Chair aims at deepening teaching in EU studies embodied in the official curriculum of a higher education institution, and fostering dialogue between the academic world and society, including local and state level policy-makers, civil servants and civil society actors. In order to attain the first goal the Chair will offer a 4-month Webinar on European integration from an interdisciplinary perspective. The Webinar on the EU will be offered for International Relations (IR) UNR students, but also to other UNR students and Latin American students exploiting synergies with regional online academic programs (PILA Virtual and AUGM Virtual program). In order to achieve the second goal the Chair will organise a Summer (or Winter) School on EU-Mercosur relations with invited lecturers. Policy-makers, practitioners, civil society organisations and Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will have the opportunity to get a clear understanding of the main elements of the EU-Mercosur agreement signed in June 2019, be aware of the core opportunities for local actors and give their views on the impact of the agreement and the future of the process of ratification. In addition, the proposed Chair will organise an annual conference with invited guest speakers on three of the European Commission’s priorities for 2019-2024: Green economy, Digital economy and the role of the EU in the world. Conferences will be registered as #Erasmusdays events. All activities will be offered in a virtual modality. The CJMUNR will become a critical opportunity to bring closer the European integration not only to Argentinean and Latin American students but also to strategic groups of the local community "
