Description

Description

The primary objective of the proposed Jean Monnet Chair is to embed and deepen teaching in the field of European Studies within the curriculum taught at The University of Adelaide, most particularly in the field of European trade and environmental policy. This is to be achieved through a range of new teaching, research and outreach activities which leverage our internal expertise and draw on our extensive international networks, including: • An elective module on European Trade and Environmental Policy • Delivery of lectures to students from other departments and institutions In addition to deepening teaching in the field of European trade and environmental Policy within the formal curriculum, the Jean Monnet Chair in Trade and Environment will engage in and maintain a constructive dialogue with government, business and civil society. The following activities are expected to have a measurable effect on local, regional and global trade and environmental policy discourse: • A dedicated webpage • Bi-Annual Seminars • Short Professional Development Programs • Outreach Workshops The Jean Monnet Chair in Trade and Environment will leverage his extensive relationships throughout the EU and Australia and his role as Centre Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in International Trade and Global Affairs to enrich these activities with the latest research, practical knowledge and insights from experts already engaged in relevant research, teaching and business related to the European Union. This will include exchange and cooperation in the delivery of teaching, research and professional training activities between The University of Adelaide and our international partners in Europe.
