Description
Description | The Jean Monnet Chair on European Judicial Cooperation intends to bring together academics, experts, and legal professionals to assess, from a transnational and multidisciplinary standpoint, how the development of a more cohesive EU common judicial space might influence the EU's internal structure and its external relationships with non-member states. By proactively addressing current global challenges and seizing the opportunities, the Chair focuses on the study of European judicial cooperation, cross-border civil procedures, and dispute resolution mechanisms with a deep understanding of the legal framework, practical applications, and future developments in the EU and beyond. The Chair is structured as a unique work package for the entire duration of the project (3 years), covering the following teaching activities: I) a course on European Judicial Cooperation (48 hours per year); II) a module on Civil Procedural Law (20 hours per year); III) a seminar on Mooting and Advocacy in International Arbitration (24 hours per year); IV) two cycles of seminars dedicated to the “Current Issues in EU Judicial Cooperation” and “European Civil Procedure” (24 hours + 16 hours per year). A final conference will be held at the end of the three years (in 2028). The JMo Chair embraces a broad and multifaceted audience, reflecting the project's wide-ranging scope. The diverse group of stakeholders will be effectively engaged through a meticulously designed communication strategy, as outlined in section 3.2 of the project plan. The Jean Monnet Chair aims to achieve far-reaching results, among which addressing a major gap in the current law curriculum regarding EU civil justice and procedural law; fostering a transnational approach to teaching EU judicial cooperation matters, and enhancing European citizenship by promoting a deeper understanding of European integration and cohesion. |
