Jeffersonville Port Expansion

The Ports of Indiana secured a $25 million federal BUILD grant to anchor a $32 million expansion at the Jeffersonville port. The project will reshape the Ohio River facility's general cargo capabilities, more than double the port's general cargo footprint, and increase heavy-lift capacity from 35 tons to 300 tons. It includes a new 300-ton crane system, a 6,500-square-foot cargo barge dock to double barge-to-rail transloading speeds, and a 22,000-square-foot storage warehouse. The expansion also establishes the port's first general cargo facility outside the local floodplain to protect against seasonal rising water. Completion is slated for 2028.
