Description

Description

The US$281.2 million, 235-MW, Jegurupadu combined-cycle Power Plant, is one of the government's "fast track" power projects. When fully operational, the plant will use naptha, natural gas and combined-cycle technologies. The first 53-MW turbine was commissioned in August 1996. The plant entered full combined cycle operation in September 1997. ABB is the primary contractor for the project. In addition to equity, the IFC provided an A Loan of US$30.0 million and a B Loan of US$70 million in 1994. This project is notable because it received a counter-guarantee from the Government of India. An 18-year PPA had been signed with the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board that took effect in August 1997. A 15-year extension of the PPA that may take effect upon the completion of the full 18-year term is contingent upon the approval by the affected parties. In fourth quarter 2001, CMS Energy announced its plans to sell all interests in its India power projects. By August 2003, CMS was in the process of selling its entire stake to GVK for approximately US$30 million. http://my.reset.jp/~adachihayao/030824G.htm
