Qualified in the PPI through Resolution No. 216, of December 16, 2021, the 7 hydroagricultural and irrigation projects aim, through the development of water infrastructure, such as dams, canals, pumps and pipelines, to expand irrigation services and , in the case of the hydro-agricultural project, also water supply and energy generation, bringing economic and social development to the neediest regions of the Brazilian semi-arid region. Partnerships with the private sector will allow the resumption of the implementation of these projects, interrupted due to the scarcity of budgetary resources, in addition to the incorporation of new technologies and greater productivity. The 7 new qualified projects are: Jequitaí Valley (MG) Vale do Iuiú (BA) Chapada do Apodi (RN) Baixo Acaraú (CE) Coastal Tablelands (PI) Guadalupe Plateaus (PI) Boards from São Bernardo (MA) The Vale do Jequitaí hydroagricultural project, located in the Northern Region of Minas Gerais, aims to implement 2 multiple-use dams on the Jequitaí River and irrigation infrastructure that will allow regularizing the flow of the São Francisco River, accumulating water for human supply in 19 municipalities, generation of 20 MW of energy, agricultural exploration of a total area of 24 thousand hectares, 10.2 thousand hectares of which are irrigated, in addition to other activities, such as leisure and fish farming.
