The Jerry Forbes Centre Foundation is renovating a 93,000 sq.ft. building to open a community hub to deliver community programming. The building’s floorplan will enable the delivery of programming for the local Edmonton community. Two large multi-purpose rooms, as well as smaller meeting rooms, will be used for: workshops; training for volunteers and community members; and events such as seminars on tax preparation for vulnerable populations, first aid courses, local craft fairs or farmers’ markets. The smaller meeting rooms will enable non-profit organizations to hold training and small group work sessions as well as host community events such as lectures and workshops in the evenings and on weekends. Flex space is configured into the building design plan and could be used to host activities such as working with young disabled children to try out speciality built bikes in a safe and secure environment. The renovation also includes warehouse and administration space.
