Description | The airfield radar system at Jersey Airport, installed in 2012, has failed and must be urgently replaced. Despite previous plans to keep it operational until the early 2030s, significant repair efforts over the past year were unsuccessful. A project to install a new, modern radar system is underway, with installation anticipated in the first half of 2027. This replacement is part of a wider programme to modernise the Channel Islands' air traffic management systems. In the meantime, air traffic services continue safely using other on-island radar systems and data-sharing with Guernsey. |
