Information East Coast Railway [ECoR] - II has come up with Jharsuguda- Sason 3rd & 4th line [2 X35 km] with a ticket size of 1113.34 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is DPR/Feasibility Study and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Current GMT of existing UP & DN line is 54.28 and 45.56 respectively. This heavily congested section caters the need of important mineral and industrial hubs of both Angul and Sambalpur districts. In addition to this, this route is connected with both Jharsuguda-Vizayanagam and Sambalpur-Talcher lines and serves the purpose of transportation of different ores and finished products like, iron, aluminum, coal and Bauxite. The chartered capacity and utilization data as per the line capacity statement of East Coast Railway [2020-21]. The percentage utilization for the year 2023-24 and 2024-25 is 142 & 150 respectively that is likely to increase further up to 166 by 2027-28. These figures indicate that the section is saturated. Hence 3rd and 4th line for the section is being proposed to match the requirements of the industries of this belt.
