In 1996, Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited (CKI) signed two joint venture (JV) contracts with the municipal government in Jiangmen - a 30 year contract for the construction and operation of the Jianghe Highway - and a 32 year contract for the operation of the Jiangsha Highway. Both highways are dual 2-lane, and are 20km and 21km respectively. In January 1997, CKI signed a third JV contract for the operation of the 2-km Chaolian Bridge for 30 years. The Jiangsha highway is operational and the Jianghe highway and Chaolian bridge are expected to open in 1999. CKI has a 50% share in each JV, and has invested US$ 48 million in the projects. Total project costs are HK$ 759 million (US$ 99 million). CKI is negotiating two additional highway projects in Jiangmen. None None
