Information Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board has come up with JICA Assisted Guwahati Water Supply Project [Loan No ID-P 201] with a ticket size of 1427 INR Crores. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA is providing financial assistance to Government of Assam and Government of India for the Guwahati Water Supply Project. The project consists of construction of waterworks facilities in the South Central and North Zones of Guwahati city to achieve potable water supply with 100 percent coverage of the citizens within the above area and lead to upgrading citizens living standard.Government of Assam has setup a Project Implementation Unit PIU, headed by Project Director for South Central and North Guwahati Water Supply Project. Further GMDWSB has appointed the Project Management Consultant PMC, who is responsible for the design and supervision of the water supply components comprising of intake works, water treatment plant, pumping stations, reservoirs and transmission and distribution network in these two zones.
