Description
Description | Jindal Power Limited set up India’s first mega power project in the private sector – the 1000 MW thermal power plant at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The Company invested approximately Rs. 43.38 billion (US$1050 million) for setting up a 1000 MW power plant. The 1st unit commenced commercial operations in December 2007 and all four units (250 MW each) were commissioned within a span of nine months. Tamnar I Project commenced full commercial operations in September 2008. The fuel supply of the plant is met through its captive coal mines. A 6.9 km conveyor pipeline has been set up for transportation of coal between the mines and the plant. Electricity generated by the project is sold through bilateral power purchase arrangements and power exchanges to state-owned utilities and power distribution and trading companies. In 2010, the project company implemented Tamnar II Project: a 2,400 MW coal based power expansion in Tammar I. The 4x600 MW project had an estimated cost of INR134.10 billion (US$2932.5 million). Tamnar II reached financial closure in March 2010. Debt was split between a INR53bn 14-year term loan and a INR47bn 14-year term loan. SBI Capital Markets Ltd is the mandated arranger. 2 Units of 600MW each were commissioned in March 2014. |
