The IWRM Tensift I measure aims to convert the drinking water supply of the three towns of Chichaoua, Amizmiz and Imintanout from groundwater to surface water or to supplement it with the use of surface water. To this end, the surface water from the recently completed Taskourt dam will be treated to drinking water quality and transported to the three project towns via transport pipes. In addition, contributions will be made in the Marrakesh region to improve the drinking water supply of surrounding communities and to improve the supply to the regional capital. The latter is co-financed with the African Development Bank.
