Description
Description | The project is commissioned by the BMZ (transitional aid). The project is part of the Peace and Stability program of development cooperation, the aim of which is to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities in eastern Congo. The aim of the project, implemented by WFP, FAO and UNICEF, is to strengthen the resilience of small farmers and vulnerable households, for which it is based on the following four pillars: Distribution of equipment for small farmers, training of small farmers, negotiations on land access and use Promotion of agricultural infrastructure, integration of cash-for-work models and savings groups Prevention and treatment of malnutrition, implementation of WASH in schools/health centers and communities Fundamental strengthening of community-based structures, awareness-raising measures for peaceful coexistence, particularly in schools The project should have a positive impact on the income, production and food security of the supported households. A total of around 60,000 small farming households are to benefit, and the expanded target group includes 360,000 people living in the target communities. Similar project approaches are currently being financed in the Democratic Republic of Congo by other donors, including Sweden and Norway. |
