Description

Description

In this project, a joint master program in Dental Public Health (DPH) will be designed by a consortium of five institutions: three in European countries, Gent University, Belgium; University of Montpellier, France and University of Bergen, Norway and two institutions from non-European countries: Alexandria University, Egypt and Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. The new joint program aims to train DPH specialists to practice in green economies, using digital tools within teams of health professionals managing non communicable diseases under universal health coverage using intercultural competence and adopting upstream approaches to address determinants of oral diseases. The project includes proposing competitive, cross-cutting features, analysing the current systems of training DPH specialists in the collaborating institutions to identify areas that need modification to conform to international guidelines and stakeholders’ feedback. A program draft will be evaluated by external experts. The finalized version of the program will be submitted for institutional approvals and accreditation. A cooperation agreement outlining the rights and responsibilities of the collaborating organizations will be prepared and capacity building needs for program implementation will be identified. The program plan will be disseminated through scientific publications, conference presentations and a program website. The project will modernize and internationalize the systems for training and master programs of DPH in the collaborating organizations, strengthen partnerships among countries in and outside Europe and establish an innovative model for DPH education in Africa, Europe and all over the world. The program prepares graduates to practice within the healthcare models proposed by international organizations, the academic community to ensure sustainability.
