Description | Kenya and Uganda are in talks to establish a joint oil refinery in Tanzania to process crude oil from the region, including Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan, into refined petroleum products for regional consumption. The refinery is proposed to be located in Tanga, Tanzania, and aims to strengthen energy security and harness regional crude oil resources. The project is supported by regional leaders and investors, including Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote, with a potential completion timeline of four to five years if agreements are reached. |
