Joint-Use Schools

The joint-use schools project was the largest schools build in Saskatchewan history. There were 18 elementary schools completed on-time and on-budget in less than two years. A public and Catholic school are attached on each of 9 sites, with community space and a daycare in the middle. Local divisions own and staff the schools and determine community access – just like everywhere else. They are made to be fully decorated by teachers and played in by kids. Designed based on the feedback of students and teachers, they are open-concept and ultramodern. They feature in-floor heating, walls that open and close to adjust learning environments, outdoor classrooms, and main staircases that double as auditorium spaces.
