Information Water Resources Department, Govt. of A.P has come up with Joladarasi Reservoir Construction Project with a ticket size of 312.3 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The aim of the proposed project is : In order to utilize the flood waters of Kundu river during flood season, it is proposed to impound the flood waters of about 3.80 TMC at Rajoli anicut so as to supplement the KC Canal ayacut. But the existing capacity of the Rajoli anicut is of 0.20 TMC. As such, it was proposed to construct a Spillway with gates at the present anicut location to impound about 3.00 TMC. The remaining water of 0.80 TMC in Kundu river is proposed to be stored by constructing a new Reservoir across Kundu river at Joladarasi village of Koilkuntla mandal of Nandyal district. NECESSITY: During heavy flood flows in the year 2009, the flood waters spread over on both the flanks and caused inundation of adjoining lands of the villages. In consideration of bare necessity it is proposed to construct new Reservoir at Joladarasi Village. JUSTIFICATION FOR TAKING UP THE SCHEME: Flood mitigation.
