The project aims to support the MOH immediately respond and mitigate risks associated with the COVID-19 outbreak in Jordan. Based on the COVID-19 National Response Plan, the project aims to fill critical gaps in the following technical areas: country-level coordination planning and monitoring; risk communication and community engagement; surveillance, rapid response teams and case investigation; point of entry; national laboratories; infection prevention and control; case management; and operation support and logistics. The primary objectives of the additional financing are to further strengthen preparedness and response activities under the Parent Project, enable affordable and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and help ensure effective vaccine deployment through enhanced vaccination system strengthening.The AF will finance the scale-up of two existing components as follows: i. Under Component 1, the following sub-components will be introduced for vaccine purchase and needed health system strengthening for vaccine deployment: a. Sub-component 1.1. COVID-19 Vaccination Support (US$51 million).b. Sub-component 1.2. Deployment of COVID-19 Vaccines and Strengthening Vaccine Delivery System (US$5.75 million).c. Sub-component 1.3. Strengthening COVID-19 clinical management for Syrian refugees (US$1.25 million).ii. Under Component 2 (Implementation Management and M&E), US$2 million will be provided for capacity building for implementation management and proper monitoring of vaccine purchase, distribution, storage and delivery.
