Description
Description | The objective of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs Project for Jordan is to improve digitally-enabled income opportunities and expand digitized government services in Jordan. The Project has three components. 1. Increasing the supply of digitally skilled youth in Jordan component will increase the supply of high-quality human capital to cater to the increasing demand for digital skills in Jordan, covering both employment and freelancing jobs. 1.1. Establishing a digital skills training ecosystem with private sector involvement subcomponent will support the establishment of the National Skills Council for Information and Communications Technology (NSC-ICT), as an independent legal entity, with a majority private sector board membership and representation from key public sector stakeholders. 1.2. Enhancing digital skills competencies for public school students subcomponent will aim to identify gaps in the existing information technology courses in schools and develop context-relevant technology learning curriculum for G7-12. The activities will include training teachers on the new courses and roll out in a systematic way across four grades (G7-10) during the timeframe of the project in public classrooms. 1.3. Providing working spaces in underserved communities through Tech Hubs subcomponent will finance the upgrading, equipping, and managing of selected Tech Hubs for three years. 2. Expanding the digital sector and digital government services in Jordan component will boost activity in the digital sector by supporting the expansion and access to business opportunities. This is achieved primarily through support of the digitization of government services. 2.1. Expanding access to markets for digital firms subcomponent will provide incentive packages to support the growth plans of digital firms in underserved communities, help build and scale up their activities, and generate local job opportunities. 2.2. Supporting digital transformation of service delivery to citizens and businesses subcomponent will support activities designed to improve access to and quality of selected e-government services. 2.3. Digitization of government payments subcomponent will support the government commitment to advance penetration of digital payments in Jordan supporting e-payments for all applicable government services. 3. Project Management and Implementation Support component will support provision of technical advisory services and goods to manage, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the project, including operating costs, independent verification of the achievement of Disbursement-Linked Indicators (DLIs) and independent verification of completion of employment objectives for employment subsidies and relevant results milestones for matching grants. |
