Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC), a subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group, is conducting a proof-of-concept trial to test whether Japanese government bonds (JGBs) can function as digital collateral on the Canton Network blockchain. The trial involves Mizuho Financial Group, Nomura Holdings, and Digital Asset, and aims to examine if JGBs can be transferred and managed on-chain while retaining their legal standing under Japanese laws. The pilot will also test integration with existing financial infrastructure for real-time collateral transactions, including cross-border settlements.
