Osaka, Japan-based JST Manufacturing Co. Ltd. plans to invest $500 million to build a highly automated electronics connector manufacturing facility in north Alabama, expected to create 80 jobs. The 540,000-square-foot plant will be located in Guntersville’s Conners Island Business Park on a 240-acre property along Lake Guntersville, incorporating the natural setting into the facility’s design. The new facility will rely heavily on automation, including injection molding, stamping, plating, and cable assembly integrated into robotic systems. JST currently employs about 25 people in Guntersville and the new plant will add 80 jobs initially, including engineering and other professional roles. Plans also call for a separate 10,000-square-foot building for sales, marketing, and engineering. The Guntersville location offers strategic access to Alabama’s growing auto manufacturing sector.
