Description	In March 2006 the government of Sudan awarded a 30 year concession contract to build, rehabilitate, operate and transfer for the port of Juba to Kuwaiti group Al Masoud International. The port of Juba, located on the river Nile, served as an important transport hub in the Bahr al-Jebel state of southern Sudan. The project was part of a larger investment scheme that included building a fishery and a hotel in Juba. Investment commitments in the port were some $30 million. Construction work was expected to be complete in two years. Five percent of port revenues were paid to the government of the Bahr al-Jebel state.
