Description

Description

J-CAP Next “Judicial cooperation for the enhancement of mutual recognition regarding probation measures and alternative sanctions – EPP software 3.0” aims to comprehensively complete the efforts of the European Probation and J-CAP projects and provide with a fully updated and augmented European Probation Software and thoroughly disseminate and streamline its use throughout EUMS’ judiciaries. Thus, J-CAP Next intends to: i) provide with a practitioner-tested and oriented European Probation Software (EPS); and ii) comprehensively raise European-wide awareness to the implementation of FD 2008/947 and to promote increased mutual knowledge and international cooperation between practitioners. By aligning J-CAP Next’s operationalisation (which responds to previously identified needs) with the activities funded within this call for proposals, the project will build from the existing EPPS and easily display and compare EUMS’ probation measures and alternative sanctions. EUMS’ data on probation measures and alternative sanctions will be fully updated for the EPS, prior to testing (with practitioners), and piloting it (with EJN Contact Points). Cooperative and mutual learning events will be organised, aiming to: i) upscale understanding of the benefits of FD 2008/947 to support the rehabilitation prospects of foreign probationers; ii) increase mutual trust throughout EUMS’ jurisdictions; iii) ensure the full-adherence and use of the EPS; and iv) promote the use of digital means to carry out cross-border proceedings, in line with Regulation 2023/2844. J-CAP Next will directly address Priority 2 (criminal matters) by fostering the implementation of FD 2008/947, addressing issues related to protecting vulnerable individuals (e.g., foreigners) within the context of alternatives to detention, while promoting the use of digital tools/channels (EPS 3.0) towards an effective, swift, secure and resilient judicial cooperation environment.
