Description | Jupiter Power Cambodia Co. Ltd. operated a 22 MW diesel power plant located in Phnom Penh. The first 15 MW of the Phnom Penh power plant began commercial operations June 2000. The total cost of the project was US$6 million, financed with support from the Overseas Private Investment Corp. (OPIC). The project was expanded by 6 MW in December 2002 at a cost of US$2.1 million. The additional capacity was wholly financed by the Caterpillar Financial Services corp. A purchasing power agreement was signed with Electricite Du Cambodge (EdC), the central electric power authority of Cambodia, on November 30 1999. EdC agreed to take the additional 6 MW of output for a term of 3-years. In June 2003, the agreement was extended for an additional term of 3 years until December 2005. Fuel supply arrangements were made with Caltex in early 2000. Jupiter Power Cambodia Co Ltd., was a wholly owned subsidiary of Jupiter Power Holdings, Ltd. (Bermuda) which was a joint venture between Maxim Power of Calgary, Canada (51%) and Caterpillar Power Ventures International, Ltd. (US) (49%). Jupiter Power Holdings developed electric power generation projects in Canada, the US, and Asia that were between the sizes of 2 to 20 MW. www.maximpowercorp.com None |
