Description | The overall goal of this project is to enhance access to compensation for victims of crime by contributing to the effective implementation of EU legislation on the right to compensation at national and European level. Objectives 1Existing barriers are identified and analyzed, as well as needs and best practices on how to overcome such barriers 2Professionals are equipped with knowledge and skills on claiming and providing assistance for obtaining compensation to victims of crime and referral channels are functional 3 Awareness about the most effective mechanisms on victim protection and access to compensation spread and used by professionals, policy makers, service providers and victims of crime in Europe. Activities include: identification and legal analysis of compensation claims; international and national trainings, seminars and focus group meetings for professionals on claiming compensation, a European information campaign on compensation to promote compensation and reach victims of crime. Expected results 1 Solutions on how to enhance access to compensation by victims of crime, overcome gaps and best practices in EU defined 2 Enhanced skills and knowledge of lawyers, law enforcement and service providers on good practices of successful compensation claims, on how to overcome gaps and how to approach trans/national referral and cooperation 3 Increased number of VoC’s claiming and obtaining compensation 4 Raised awareness of policy makers on access to compensation on best practices and on how to overcome gaps 5 National and trans-national referral of victims improved Beneficiaries Victims of crime 700 National & EU policy makers 80 NGOs/CSOs 90 Lawyers 100 Judges 60 Prosecutors 60 Law enforcement 60 Victim support services 60 Outputs 30 cases collected and analyzed Assessment of victims’ needs Assessment of referral of victims Online resource centre 7 FG discussions 2 intl. and 16 national trainings 1 intl. seminar on referral 1 European & 8 national campaigns |
