Description | The KAAN fighter jet is Turkey's first 5th generation fighter jet, developed by TUSAS. The prototype made its first flight in February 2024, marking Turkey's entry into the select group of countries capable of developing and testing 5th generation fighter jets. The project currently depends on foreign engines, but there is an ongoing program to develop a domestically produced engine with integration planned by the end of the decade. KAAN has secured its first international contract with Indonesia for 48 units, including local industrial participation and technology transfer. |
