Description | The desiltation process of the Kaddam Narayana Reddy irrigation project, built across the Kaddam river in 1958 with a storage capacity of 7.63 tmcft and an ayacut of 68,000 acres, has been delayed. The project currently holds about 3.5 tmcft of water due to silt accumulation, affecting irrigation especially in tail-end fields. An agency from Rajasthan was selected to remove and process the silt, but work has not commenced due to delays in land identification for a processing unit. The irrigation officials have recently identified land sites for the processing unit and are taking steps to start the work soon. |
