The project involved the construction of the foundation for new nuclear reactors (units 5 and 6) at Kaiga, India. Engineers poured about 7,250 cubic meters of concrete continuously under a 75-meter artificial cover to protect against monsoon rains. An ice plant producing 510 tons of ice per day was used to control the concrete temperature and prevent thermal stresses during curing. The foundation also included a high steel reinforcement density of 360 kg per cubic meter. The operation required detailed planning, strict quality control, and continuous concreting to meet nuclear infrastructure standards.
