Description | The 120MWp Kairouan solar power plant is located in the Kairouan Governorate in the inland desert in northern Tunisia. It is the first solar power plant in Tunisia to exceed 100 megawatts of installed capacity and the first to inject renewable electricity into the 225-kilovolt high-voltage grid of the Societe Tunisienne de l'Electricite et du Gaz (STEG). The ground-mounted solar project covers 200 hectares and comprises 220,416 modules with a capacity of 545W each, capable of generating 120 megawatts at maximum output. It is expected to produce 222 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, supplying nearly 43,000 households and averting around 117,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. |
