Description | The Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC) has granted in-principle approval to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) proposal to develop a plaza in front of the Kala Ghoda statue and convert five adjoining streets into pedestrian-only zones, increasing the total pedestrian-only streets to 10. The project includes Phase 1, which is in the final stages of replacing asphalt lanes with cobblestones on five streets, and Phase 2, which involves converting the road outside the now-closed Rhythm House into a plaza and revamping five more roads. The plaza will feature a combination of basalt and granite stones for flooring and landscaping with various trees. Parking is planned to be underground. |
