Description | The Kalkaroo copper-gold project is Australia's largest undeveloped open-pit copper deposit by ore reserves, located 91 kilometres northwest of Broken Hill in South Australia's Curnamona Province. It benefits from excellent infrastructure including access to the Barrier Highway and Transcontinental Railway, and a skilled regional workforce. The project has substantial mineral resources and reserves, with a 13-year initial mine life and multi-commodity exposure including copper, gold, and cobalt. It is being developed through a strategic alliance between Sandfire Resources and Havilah Resources, with a staged earn-in agreement valued at up to $240 million AUD. The project aims to complete a new pre-feasibility study within 18-24 months and move towards commercial production within 3-4 years after shareholder approval. |
