Kalkaska Multi-Billion-Dollar Data Center

planned

A Traverse City company, Rocklocker, is leading an effort to develop a multi-billion-dollar hyperscale data center campus in Kalkaska. The project aims to build a gigawatt-sized campus on 1,440 acres of state land, featuring its own natural gas power plant and carbon capture and storage system to achieve net-zero emissions. The design includes air cooling enhanced by the local climate and a closed-loop geothermal system to minimize water usage. The project is in the community engagement and planning phase, with efforts to gain local support before approaching tech companies for partnership.
