Kalpasar Project Freshwater Reservoir

planned

The Kalpasar Project involves constructing a massive dam across the Gulf of Khambhat in Gujarat, India, to impound waters of seven rivers and create a vast freshwater reservoir. The project aims to provide long-term water security, irrigate approximately 10 lakh hectares of land, reduce travel distance between South Gujarat and Saurashtra, generate wind and solar energy, and boost local fisheries and tourism. The project has faced delays due to marine engineering challenges but has gained momentum through a technical cooperation pact between India and the Netherlands.
