Description
Description | In July 2005, Public Works Department (PWD) of Government of Rajasthan signed a 8 year concession contract (including 12 month of construction period) to India’s ANS Constructions Ltd. to strengthen the 56.5 km section between Kama Jurehera and Punhana on Major District Road 72 (MDR 72) and between Kama Pahari on Other District Road 16 (ODR 16) in the state of Rajasthan. Under the contract, ANS Constructions Ltd. was responsible for the rehabilitation, finance, operation and maintenance of the existing two-lane highway with paved side shoulders. The project was expected to ease traffic congestion and give significant stimulus to trade and commerce in the entire region. ANS Constructions Ltd. won the tender through competitive bidding, conducted by PWD, Rajasthan, by requesting the lowest concession period of 8 years. ANS was to recover the capital costs and operating costs including returns through tolls during the concession period (excluding construction period). The concession agreement for the project was signed in July 2005. The total capital cost of the project was estimated at US$ 9 million. Construction on the project began in July 2005 and was expected to be completed by July 2006. |
