Description
Description | The project scope consists of the development and operation of a solar PV plant with capacity of 10-MW, located in Kandahar, Daman district. This is a greenfield, privately - owned facility developed by an Indian company Dynasty Oil & Gas, promoted by Jaguar Overseas Ltd. DABS used an innovative reverse auction to solicit bids for the contract and hold down project costs, inviting qualified bidders to participate in the online auction, held on July 16, 2016. The bidders were required to submit bids at a starting price established by DABS, and the lowest bid won the contract. Dynasty offered the lowest tariff of US$0.073/kWh and thus bagged the contract. DABS and Dynasty signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) at a tariff of US$0.073/kWh. Since it is a BOT contract, the sponsor will transfer ownership of the project to DABS in 15 years. Total investment in the project is estimated at $19 million. Dynasty Oil & Gas has started work on the 10-MW solar PV project with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the amount of $10 million with the remainder supplied by Dynasty ($9 million). The project is expected to be completed in August 2018. https://www.pv-tech.org/news/construction-starts-on-10mw-afghanistan-solar-project-in-kandahar https://www.pajhwok.com/en/2017/09/24/dabs-breaks-ground-10mw-solar-power-plant https://www.usaid.gov/afghanistan/news-information/press-releases/Sept-24-2017-Solar-power-plant-to-be-built-in-Kandahar Dynasty Oil & Gas to be added to sponsors' list (http://dynastyoil.in/) |
