Description	Kansai was planning the development of the 61 MW Xe Katam hydropower plant near Champasak. Kansai, from Japan, held 55% of the shares, the 25% was held by the government of Laos and the remaining 20% by a Thai investor. The PDA was signed in December 2007 and the EIA was reported as completed in 2010. Commissioning was reported by the Lao government for 2012. Total cost was estimated at $120 million and the sponsor expected support from JBIC and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI).
