Kansas City Royals New Stadium

planned

Kansas City has taken a significant step towards building a new $1.9 billion Major League Baseball stadium for the Royals just south of downtown near Union Station. The City Council approved an ordinance allowing the city to negotiate a deal with the Royals and contribute up to $600 million towards the stadium and related infrastructure. The project includes the stadium and offices, with plans for a surrounding entertainment district to be developed later. The city expects to own the stadium and lease it to the Royals for 30 years. The project requires further negotiations, tax increment financing approval, state funding applications, public engagement, and final City Council approvals before construction can begin, which is expected to take up to four years.
