Kansas’ first hyperscale data center

Construction for the first hyperscale data center in Kansas is underway in De Soto. The project initially proposed a four-building campus totaling 1.14 million square feet, but the developers have expanded the project's size by over 1 million square feet, more than doubling its initially suggested scope. The entire project is expected to be nearly 3 million square feet. The expansion includes a closed-loop, air-cooled facility to minimize water use. The project has received approval from the De Soto Planning Commission and is compliant with city zoning regulations. The developer, Beale Infrastructure, proposed a $3 billion investment and will make payments to the city in exchange for tax exemptions for 10 years, calculated per building based on square footage.
