Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Kanupur Irrigation Project is a major Irrigation Project across River Baitarani near village Basudevpur, in Champua Sub-division of Keonjhar District. The Project envisages construction of Earth Dam across River Baitarani at confluence point of River Baitarani with Sona Nalla [Kandara Nalla] with total CCA of 29,578 ha and ultimate irrigation of 47,709 ha. The Project envisages construction of following components- ? 3.460 km long and 39.5m high Earth Dam across River Baitarani at D/S of confluence point of River Baitarani with Sona Nalla [Kandara Nalla] with Gross Storage capacity 331.02 MCM ? 213m long centrally located Ogee type gated Spillway with design flood capacity of 14,450cumec. ? 12 no. Radial Gates of each size 15mX12m. ? 280m long dyke on Left flank. ? 1 no. of Head Regulator [Right side of the River] with SHEP [Small Hydro Electrical Project] Head discharge of 35.05cumec for Canal &- 9.9cumec for SHEP. ? The proposed &- under construction SHEP is with Steel Liner of 72m length &- 3.5m dia. with provision for generating 4.92MW Electricity. ? The Head Regulator is four vented with 4 nos. of Emergency Gates &- 4 nos. of Service Gates &- that of SHEP is with 1 Emergency Gate &- 1 Service Gate. ? 78.21km long Unlined Right Canal &- 906km long Distribution System up to 5 ha blocks. ? Provision of 10MCM of water kept for Drinking Water needs without affecting required Irrigation. ? Nos. of Village affected- 16 [10 nos. Fully Submerged &- 6 nos. Partially Submerged with ? nos. of Families as per Base Line Survey -2006]. ? Total Forest Land Diversion-235.269 ha.
