Description | Karachajevo-Cherkessk Electrosvyaz is the regional telecom operator in the Cherkessk Republic, located in the Northern Caucasus region. The company provides basic local telephone services. It also provides national and international services through Rostelecom. AO Karachajevo-Cherkessk Electrosvyaz was privatized in December 1993, after the formation of Svyazinvest, the national holding company. Svyazinform held 38% of the common stock, and 51% of the voting rights by 1998. The remaining stake was mainly owned by the employees and individual investors. Karachajevo-Cherkessk Electrosvyaz operated 76,130 lines by 1998. The company's equity was valued at around $10 million. Became a branch of Southern Telecom in November 2002. |
