Description
Description | The $200 million funding will be used for the construction, conversion, operation and maintenance of a powership for deployment in Ghana including related offtake and credit support arrangements. The powership will help the country to cover its energy deficit. Turkish company Karpowership is building the vessel, which will have the capacity to produce 225 MW of power but could be scaled up to produce up to 450 MW. Deutsche Bank, Investec and Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) will provide the $150 million debt package. Karpowership signed two separate 225 MW PPAs with Electricity Company of Ghana for two powerships in Tema Harbor and Takoradi Harbor. The project is called “Power of Friendship for Ghana” and is Karpowership’s first project in Africa. https://ijglobal.com/data/transaction/36177/ghana-powership-225mw |
