This project entails the development, construction and operation of a wind power plant with capacity of 100 MW in the Karatau mountain, Uzbekistan. It is planned to deliver more than 178,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions savings annually and contribute to the national energy mix. The National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (NEGU) will serve as the exclusive buyer of electricity generated by the project for 25 years. The Uzbek Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF) has provided support for the project through the Government Support Agreement (GSA). The investment stands at $118.1 million, of which $19.3 million loan is provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and $25 million loan is provided by the French Development Agency (AFD). German Development Agency (DEG, part of KfW Group) also supports the project. The project company is ACWA Power Wind Karatau FE LLC, fully sponsored by ACWA Power.
