Description | The project involves upgrading and realigning the 241 km of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) from Thakot to Raikot Bridge in northern Pakistan.The road stretches from the small towns of Thakot to Raikot in northern Pakistan and serves as the primary route between Islamabad and China's Xinjiang region. It is a two-lane road along this section, and one of the key CPEC projects aims to upgrade the entire 887 km route into an all-weather highway. The section between Havelian and Thakot is already under construction. Additionally, the planned construction of four major dams on the upper Indus will submerge the existing road, driving the need for the upgrade. |
