Description

Kashitu farm estate is a 250 hectares farm situated in Mukungule chiefdom of Mpika located on the road to north Luangwa national park. On the northern boundary, Kashitu farm is bordered by a mountain range of small hills. On the eastern side is the perennial Cheche stream. Currently, about 15% of the area is being used for cultivation, while the 85% of the trees were allowed to rejuvenate over a period of 30 years. In the last 5 years, conservation farming has been practiced. The crops grown have been; groundnuts, sunflower and sweet potatoes. Kashitu farm requires both long term and short term capitalization. In the interim, they can exponentially increase production on the cleared land that was already opened up on the farm. In the long term, Kashitu farm will venture into expansion and mechanization. Cost of capitalization needed is $373,236.22.
