Kasiya Mining Project

The Kasiya mining project in Malawi is a large-scale dual-commodity mining development producing rutile and graphite. It features a 2,105 million tonne mineral resource with rutile at 0.96% grade and graphitic carbon at 0.95% grade. The project uses direct excavation of weathered saprolite material, eliminating the need for drilling or blasting, and has a minimum mine life of 25 years. It aims to produce 222,000 tonnes of rutile and 275,000 tonnes of graphite annually, with a total project revenue of US$16.5 billion over 25 years and an annual EBITDA of US$476 million. The capital requirement is US$727 million. The project has completed its Definitive Feasibility Study as of April 2026, with mining license applications in progress and environmental and social impact assessments underway. Strategic partnerships include technical collaboration with Rio Tinto and alignment with International Finance Corporation Performance Standards.
