Kaslo - Kaslo & District Arena Upgrades

The project will upgrade a 45 year old building’s fire system at the Village of Kaslo and District Arena, upgrade electrical wiring to accommodate the replacement of a Fortis BC transformer and replacing the hockey arena’s original ice plant condensers. The building’s fire system has numerous faulty or outdated devices, is inadequately wired and is not up to current building code standards and the building’s electrical wiring must be upgraded to be compatible with a new FortisBC transformer. The arena ice plant condensers are well past their estimated 30 year life span and are essential to making ice for the hockey arena. The Kaslo and District Arena is the only ice arena serving the Village of Kaslo and rural Regional District of Central Kootenay Area D. The Arena is also a designated Emergency Reception Centre, most often needed during forest fire and mudslide season or extended power outages. The project works include: -fire system materials and installation; -electrical upgrade for Fortis transformer replacement; -ice plant condensers; and, - all related works.
