Kavakli RES Wind Farm

Turkish firm, Erciyas Celik Boru A.S., developed a 52 MW Kavakli RES wind power plant in the southern province of Balikesir in Turkey. Vestas supplied a total of 16 wind turbines for the wind farm. The annual production from Kavakli farm is estimated at 193,000 MWh per year, which will save the environment from over 95,000 tons of CO2 emissions on an annual basis. The wind farm would produce enough electricity to cover the residential electricity consumption of more than 390,000 people. The project reached financial closure in March 2014. The Danish export credit agency, EKF, teamed up with Landesbank on a buyer credit facility in the amount of USD 65 million (DKK 358 million) to fund the export of Vestas wind turbines. The loan had a tenor of 14 years and 11 months. The wind farm was commissioned in the second quarter of 2014.
