Kazak Productions is a French production company founded in 2007. We develop strong propositions from visionary author-directors. The winning of the Palme d’Or gave us international recognition and the opportunity to expand our production to a global scale. We are also focusing more on international coproductions, with European countries and beyond from North America to Eastern Africa. The 6 projects we are presenting (4 feature film projects, 1 series and 1 animated short film) demonstrate Kazak’s dedication to promoting up and coming talents and broaden its reach through their transnational nature and genre-bending themes. - Holy Madeleine, Bérangère McNeese’s 2nd feature film, follows a girl in the 19th century, who lies about holy visions to escape from an arranged marriage. - A Pig’s Tale, based on Marie Darrieusseq’s modern masterpiece, Josephine Darcy Hopkins’ 2nd feature film, explores the fate of a woman in a dystopic world, through an elevated musical genre. - Facing the Truth, Teddy Lussi Modeste’s 4th feature film, co-written with Audrey Diwan, explores the fight of a mother to keep her child’s custody. - Nothing to Report, Stéphan Castang’s 2nd feature film, a dystopian film noir that criticizes the excesses of capitalism in the age of cloning. - Nanga Parbat, a 4x52’ series by Caryl Férey, based on the incredible story of alpinist Elisabeth Revol who survived in the Himalayas after a tragic accident. - The Woman Who Mapped the Sky, an animated short film by visionary artist Chloe Vanderstraeten, retells the story of Henrietta Leavitt, a brilliant astronomer who in the late 20th century developed a method for calculating the distances between galaxies that is still used today. As these highly diverse projects each have different development needs, we are counting on MEDIA’s support to be able to produce on a par with our ambitions while maintaining the quality that has established Kazak as a key player in European independent film production.
