Description | China will construct two nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan. Feasibility studies and project documentation are currently in progress. The project is in coordination stage for intergovernmental agreement and cooperation form, pending ratification in parliament. Specialists are identifying suitable locations focusing on access to water resources and power distribution infrastructure. The first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan is planned near the village of Ulken in Almaty Region, with operations expected between 2035 and 2036. Kazakhstan aims to generate 2.4 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity by 2035. |
